Flexible LED manufacturer pips Microsoft Kinect to win ‘Breakthrough Technology’ Award

NanoLumens has been was awarded the accolade of ‘Breakthrough Technology of the Year’ at the prestigious TechAmerica Foundation American Technology Awards, in recognition of its innovative display solution.

NanoLumens Flexible LCD Screen

Launched to the European market at the beginning of 2011, the company has gone from strength to strength with the support of UK distribution partner PSCo. The 112” display weighs just 41kg and can be curved around walls or flexed around pillars up to a bend radius of 48”, or hung simply from any fixing point.

These unique features and the groundbreaking technology within the display are just some of the reasons that the awards have recognised NanoLumens’ contribution to the industry. Nominations were vetted by industry experts and technology companies, and the ceremony took place in Washington earlier this week.

Nominee finalists for the Breakthrough Technology of the year award included the consumer electronics product, Microsoft Kinect, and cleantech plastic, to fuel processing company Agilyx.

Richard Cope, CEO of NanoLumens, explains, “We are highly honoured to win such a prestigious award. Utilising our core technology, we are more confident than ever that we are bringing innovation to the global display industry and we look forward to solving more of the display needs for our prospective clients through the recognition of this achievement”.

Senator Bob Bennett, Chairman, TechAmerica Foundation, commented, “We had a lot of nominations for these awards, and we congratulate NanoLumens for their winning achievement. TechAmerica Foundation is excited to highlight NanoLumens as it continues to influence technology development throughout the rest of the world”.
