Screen New Technologies exhibited its Sunlight Displays at ISE. The displays augment Samsung panels to produce a bright image in direct sunlight in such a way that the brighter the ambient light, the better the brightness and contrast. This makes them particularly well suited to environments with extremely bright or unpredictable light conditions, such as ski resorts.
 
The LCD display is indirectly illuminated by sunlight or bright lamps via a reflective layer. This means that the more light that is thrown at it, the more it throws back. The system adapts automatically to surrounding light levels and like most conventional displays, has active illumination for darker conditions. Specially developed safety glass screens the system from UV an infrared rays and has an anti-glare treatment, prolonging the screen’s life in strong sunlight.
