Tablets go supersize

Giant iTab
Touch2view's ‘Giant iTab’ was released into the commercial world last month with The Times newspaper as the opening client.

The giant iTab is a giant interactive tablet designed to present apps and app-based content on a giant scale, with all the controls and gestures of the smaller sized tablets and smart phones of today. News International launched its new newspaper app at their recent summer party by using a giant iTab to displayThe Times newspaper.

Mark Jones, Managing Director of Touch2View, said. “It’s a significant event in evolution of interactive presentation technology as it taps into the familiarity and favourability of apps and app-based content. The response has been very favourable, with customers telling us they would very readily use this type of presentation, because it is in a familiar format. This is an important factor for any advertisers or companies wanting customers to engage with their digital content.

"Retail stores, exhibitions and events, entertainers, gamers and publishers can now all present their apps on a giant scale at a fraction of the cost of regular digital signage and kiosk solutions. The hardware and kit is well priced; there is no installation because it’s all wireless and the software already exists.”

The latest apps being presented on the giant iTab will appear on forthcoming episodes of ‘The Gadget Show’.
