Samsung Interactive Whiteboard from BETT exhibition
Samsung Electronics launched its new Plasma Interactive Whiteboard to school teachers and ICT managers.

The touch interface capabilities of the whiteboard will enable teachers to make lessons more interactive and therefore engaging, by encouraging students to illustrate, present and create, helping to build core skills such as communication, collaboration and presentation with the use of just their fingertips.

Available now in 63” the product is already in use in selected schools within the Torfaen, South Wales region, following a pilot programme in the borough. During the pilot, teachers reported seeing students more engaged with learning, developing confidence as they get used to using the technology to aid presentations to their class. In addition, Torfaen teachers found students’ fear of being corrected, for example when misspelling a word, was replaced with the excitement of seeing work develop instantaneously in front of them on the board.

Teachers benefit from being able to quickly highlight certain content or underline words on the board to make it easier for students to understand, saving them precious time.

All of Samsung’s Display products are designed not only to help save money by cutting energy consumption but also to minimise waste, helping schools and colleges reduce their carbon footprint. The Samsung Display division has a good reputation for working closely with schools, colleges, universities and educational authorities to create digital learning environments to enhance traditional learning – giving students important skills for the future.

Samsung Interactive Whiteboard in action in South Wales

Phil Gaut, Samsung General Manager for Display, says:  “At Samsung we are proud and excited to introduce our LED Displays and Projectors to schools and colleges. Our roll-out of the Interactive Whiteboard in Torfaen has shown first-hand how students have built their confidence to interact with classmates, present to an audience and explore new ways of learning in their digitally integrated classroom. The expanded capabilities of Samsung technology means teachers benefit too and can use the Interactive Whiteboards in a way that suits them, rather than be restricted in the way they teach.”
