Stock market uses digital signage to keep up to date
Omnivex Corporation, Microsoft Gold Partner and provider of enterprise software for digital signage networks, is powering a network of screens throughout City Index’s offices in London, UK. City Index is an international participant in stock trading transactions, conducting over 1.5 million monthly trades in over fifty countries.

The system installed by Omnivex partner, Asysco, delivers a more dynamic trading experience for the customers, staff and trading partners who visit the offices. The intention of the installation was to provide visitors with a visually effective display that gave the latest stock information in real-time.

“The newly-renovated building presented us with a blank canvas,” explained Nick Morwood, Project Manager at Asysco. “The idea wasto create a high impact display at the entrance to the building, and the space was better suited to a vertical design, so we tailored the content for the plasma screens to fit the layout.”

The unique configuration at the reception area consists of a video wall made up of eight bezel-less screens, in a vertical ‘Z’ pattern. Omnivex software gave City Index the ability to display content across the eight screens as one unified design, or, alternatively,  treat each screen separately.

The Omnivex software also automates the process of incorporating live stock data and spread betting training schedules, by pulling information from an RSS feed, formatting it and putting it out to the correct screens. All of the content is managed by City Index’s in-house IT team.

The digital signage system is also incorporated elsewhere in City Index’s suite of conference and meeting rooms, office and rest areas. A dramatic array of displays lines the trading floor to stream real-time global stock exchange data and television feeds.

The system unifies communications between City Index’s UK staff, clients and traders with their counterparts in markets around the globe.
