Magenta's Matrix Switching Platform
In the Pink
Magenta Research, a leader in professional AV signal extension, distribution and switching over structured cabling for more than eleven years, unveiled an integrated matrix switching platform at the InfoComm 2009.
The Infinea Opto Matryx supports six signal types in one highly configurable device, providing high performance digital video and signal switching for interactive digital signage platforms. It supports the switching and extension of uncompressed, high definition DVI/HDMI video (1080p/1920x1200), audio, bi-directional RS-232 and USB signals.
Its unique architecture allows custom configuration from 8x8 to 96x80 in increments of eight inputs and outputs as well as uncomplicated field upgrades. Additional asymmetrical switch configurations such as 128x8 and 32x160 are also supported. This adaptability and upgradeability helps to minimise capital installation costs while also ensuring the capacity for future growth.
The Opto Matryx also combines full matrix switching with a long range extension, supporting a variety of output connectivity options including native digital video connector support or signal extension support over fibre optic and/ or UTP cabling, covering distances from a few metres to ten kilometres.
Bi-directional, duplex serial support enables display management, supporting both control over and data collection from end points. The unique USB/HID (Human Input Device) switching and extension aspect of the Opto Matryx supports devices such as mice, keyboards and USB-driven touch-screen applications.
A single 6U fully populated Opto Matryx chassis features 32 inputs and outputs. To achieve larger, multiple frame switches, the Opto Matryx employs Magenta’s patent-pending cascade technology. Each chassis features up to 6 control ports, dual redundant, hot swappable power supplies, filtered cooling, a pressurised chassis and front panel dashboard indicator lights, which inform operators, at a glance, of switch status.
Previously, multiple platforms would usually be required to achieve what the Opto Matryx can do in a single platform. Designed for digital multipoint-to-multipoint networks, integrators and VARs can rely on the matrix switcher for maximum performance 24/7. The Opto Matryx is a good solution for casinos, government & military secure facilities, museums, large retail environments, stadiums and arenas, education, security, high-end residential and command & control type environments.
