Philips 65 inch display
MMD, the new entity behind Philips branded displays, has announced the availability of the slimmest display within its public signage range of 65-inch widescreen displays. The Philips BDL6551V, which was showcased at ISE 2010, is proof that Philips is helping to set the pace in the public signage market.  With its ultra slim bezel, the 65” display communicates messages in a stylish way and grabs audience’s attention through the size of the screen.

Slimmest 65-inch display in its range

Philips is expanding its existing public signage product range of FHD high brightness slim displays. The LCD display is only 3.1 cm thick which is, on average, half the size of the bezel compared to the industry average in its category.

Wilfred de Man, Director Sales & Marketing EMEA comments, “We are serious about our ambitions in 2010: Philips Public Signage wants to double our market share in Europe in 2010 and become a leading player in this market segment. Supported by the strong Philips brand name, our long history and experience in the B2B display market and the introduction of an exciting full new product range, we are convinced we are well placed to achieve this goal.”

Special features include:

  • Slim bezel: the design adds a stylish look to a public display to blend in most environments and makes it ideal for tiled matrix video walls
  • Smart Insert: a provision at the back of the display which allows a small form factor (SFF) PC or media device to be inserted discreetly. The Smart Insert was developed to easily upgrade, service and swap professionals PCs without the need of replacing the complete display.
  • Designed for 24/7 operation: Public signage displays are used in the most demanding applications and tested for heavy duty operation, even when 24/7 is required.
  • SmartPower: for energy saving, that controls the backlight intensity and pre-set by the system to reduce the power consumption by up to 50%, which saves substantially on energy costs.

The Philips BDL6551V is available from April 2010 through all MMD business partners.
