Panasonic’s flagship 103” plasma has formed the centrepiece of its campaign for the new Lumix camera that was in place in London Waterloo last week, and will move to London Liverpool Street and Victoria Station in the coming weeks.

Panasonic’s latest Lumix DMX-ZX1 was built to proportion around the TH-103PF10 103” plasma screen that also acts as the camera’s view finder.

The 3.6 metre high and 2 metre wide fibre glass camera weighs 160kg and was built by a team of 6 artists over a 5 week period. The installation was put up in the middle of Waterloo station at 4am on the morning of November 19th, to greet London rush hour commuters.

The 8xLife campaign has seen giant sculptures appear in high profile locations in cities across the country including a postbox, traffic cone, park bench, crumpled coffee cup and pigeon. The oversized Lumix spent 3 days at Waterloo and before embarking on a mini tour of London train stations; it will feature at London Victoria between November 26th and 28th and London Liverpool Street between 3rd and 5th December.

Daniel Rose, Category Manager - Pro Plasma & Projector at Panasonic, said:  “This is certainly one of the more interesting digital signage installs we’ve ever done. Other than its size the 103” was ideal for the install, the brightness and detail provide the type of high quality image you’d expect from the Lumix range and its reinforced glass panel makes it tough enough for such a busy environment”
