The UK digital signage agency, Pixel Inspiration, has launched an interactive touch screen wayfinding application, “Way 2 Go”, that provides navigation through large buildings like hospitals, airports, shopping centres, or libraries.

The application provides the user with an interactive 3D map of one or more buildings and their floors. Special points of interest on the map can be flagged up, so that users can more easily find popular locations.

The application also takes into account any potential issues such as one way systems or disabled access, providing the user with clear on-screen directions that may be printed out or sent by SMS to the users’ phone. As Way 2 Go is a self-updating application, it can rebuild itself when changes to the layout in the building are made.

Nikk Smith, Technical Director, Pixel Inspiration, commented, “Touch screen wayfinding is the natural progression from what currently exists in the large majority of the UK’s hospitals, airports and shopping centres as it provides a user friendly and logical method of navigation. However, due the length of time and associated costs of updating any element of the interactive maps, many organisations have been reluctant to invest. With Way 2 Go, we think we’ve developed a market leading touch screen wayfinding application, with advanced functionality and the ability change an environment in minutes.”
