Fresh Out the Box

Black box player DS Europe Spring 2011
Black Box has developed a portfolio  of professional AV and digital signage applications which it will be promoting next year. Among these products is the iCompel series, which provides a means for companies and organisations to improve their internal and external communications with relevant and  dynamic digital signage systems.

Black Box state that these browserbased, networked players can easily be integrated into existing networks to allow for the gradual expansion of the system. The player is delivered as an out-of-the-box solution with preinstalled software for composing and distributing multimedia content in HD quality for digital displays. It Fresh Out the Box nu For more information please tick reader response number 227 at www.digitalsignageeurope.com includes drag & drop tools for playing of stored or live media in multiple screen zones, as well as menus for scheduling content distribution by time and location.

The company’s DS portfolio comprises solutions for transmitting, distributing, switching and mixing of content. Numerous extender variants extend audio and video signals both via CATx cables and optical fiber. USB-HIDs (Human Interface Devices) for bidirectional communication at kiosk terminals can also be extended in  realtime - and placed where they are needed, away from their computers. The DVI-D Plus USB HID Extender, for example, uses a single CATx cable to extend the video signal and HID  data up to a length of 50 metres. Developers state that since the existing  IP network is used, virtually unlimited, loss-free extensions of digital video signals are possible with the ServSwitch  Agility. This can also be used as a  KVM switch and is therefore suitable for AV applications as well. The digital  switch matrix allows for loss-free KVM switching between DVI/USB computers and distant workstations with DVI monitor and USB-HID peripherals at a maximum distance of 140 meters via  CATx or 10 kilometers via optical fibre.

These products will be exhibited at ISE 2011. “The ISE is the ideal  platform for us to showcase our broad  portfolio to a top-class audience and convince them of our products and services,“ Axel Bürger, Managing  Director of Black Box Deutschland GmbH, explains. “As a European IT provider, we are in a position to carry out both national and international digital signage projects of any size, from  installation to logistics to maintenance.“
