Multitouch Brings Wall to Life

Interactive Media Solutions specialises in creating display applications incorporating the latest interactive technology.

The company’s recently launched ImWall is a multitouch wall based on the latest technology in the field of interactive projections. A Kinect-Sensor is used to capture every single pixel of the projection surface. This means that multiple fingers can be identified, which allows several people to interact with the wall at the same time. The size and shape of the projection can be adjusted easily. Active and inactive areas of the projection can be defined individually and all functions of an ordinary multitouch device are also available to use, including drag and drop, zoom, rotation and so on.

The technology is not only designed for front projections. It also can be adapted as a back projection. By using an Ultra-Short-Throw projector, which can be deployed at a range of 50cm, module constructions can be created.

Content for the walls can be managed centrally. Users can customise graphics and settings for games, effects and infotainment applications using an easy-to-operate web front-end interface. The configuration wizard enables each individual interactive system on the network to be configured either locally or centrally.

The wall can be used to display visual effects, and to run multi-player games or complex infotainment systems for events, trade fairs or at the point of sale. Potential applications include interactive walls and shopping fronts, interactive digital signs, interactive games, and interactive visual displays which an be deployed in entrance areas, in shops, at presentations or during shows.
