Multiview Family

Double digit growth (even in a staid economy), consolidation and the growing convergence/influence of IT on the digital signage industry are among the influences that make this industry both fascinating and compelling to participate in and follow. However, these fluctuating market factors can also provide a barrier to entry for newcomers to the industry.

Narrowcasting, digital signage, out-of-band networks, out of home advertising… whatever you want to call it, these segments demand different skill sets than presentation and other more traditional AV markets, from integrators and manufacturers alike. Most digital signage systems are running 24/7, while presentation systems are not in use after hours, and in use only sporadically during open hours. Add in the fact that typical digital signage installations have hundreds or thousands of screen,s and the need for more reliable and rugged products becomes even more apparent.

Magenta Research’s MultiView product line is a flexible and high-performing video-over-UTP extension solution, with products that can distribute 1080P to 2,000 feet (610m) on a single cable, with no repeaters or splitters required. Hundreds of thousands of MultiView products are powering displays and signage solutions in museums, casinos, malls, airports, retail stores, educational facilities, convention centers and government buildings around the world. With an average Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF) of 100,000 hours per box, equating to over 11 years of continuous operation, MultiView products are the workhorse backbone of digital signage.

For network operators, such uptime equals more ads served, leading to more profit. For integrators and VARS, product reliability means less troubleshooting and return site visits, in turn leading to less expense and higher return on investment.

Product specifications can also be confusing to all but the most seasoned digital signage pros, with a host of companies relying on ‘up to’ specifications — e.g. Product A can do ‘up to’ 1600x1200 at ‘up to’ 500 feet. Pity the poor installer, however, who is trying to get Product A working at 500 feet with 1600x1200 only to discover while on site that the real-world resolution of Product A at 500 feet is only 1024x768. With Magenta’s MultiView products, distance and resolution specifications are married.

Magenta Research’s products include the MultiView Series, Infinea DVI and the Mondo Matrix, the world’s largest and most scalable UTP matrix switch, with configurations from 16x16 to 256x512.
