Back in the Day

NEC
The sixth NEC Competence Day was held on the 28th May 2009 at the M.O.C. in Munich, Germany. With over 30 partners, NEC Display Solutions presented innovative projection and display products and solutions, as well as incorporating a series of presentations at the event.

Lutz Hardge, General Manager Sales Central Europe, gave an opening speech which was optimistic despite the economic crisis, and presented NEC as a competent partner for digital signage installations. The advisors of CMP WEKA and invidis Consulting presented, in collaboration with NEC Display Solutions, an overview of the current digital signage market. Stefanie Corinth, Vice President Marketing and Business Development, gave a presentation on the various solutions NEC have to offer for various vertical markets, including retail, education, healthcare and facilities management. For example, for the classroom, NEC presented interactive whiteboards, short throw projectors and unwired notepads.

Under the heading 360o Solutions, the NEC Competence Day presented innovative digital signage solutions shown in thematic vertical market areas. Particular highlights on show included a video wall solution, additions to their range of LCD screens and short throw projectors, as well as a stacking solution for projectors.

NEC Display Solutions exhibited the largest LCD public display in its portfolio, the LCD8205, which is a 82” professional display with full HD resolution and a maximum brightness of 600 cd/m2 and was launched at the beginning of this year. This display incorporates an integrated light sensor which can adapt itself to match the ambient light conditions.

Also on show was NEC’s new video wall solution. Using the 46” public display with an extremely narrow bezel, it allows the construction of a video wall with up to 10 x 10 displays creating a display area of up to 60 square metres. This MultiSync X461UN also offers an accurate Carbon Footprint Meter, which provides an up-to-date overview of the display’s carbon emissions at any time to encourage the use of the reduced brightness operation when permitted by the ambient light conditions.

Particularly interesting amongst their projector solutions, the new NEC NP3250 projector series has stacking capability which enables up to four projectors to boost an image’s brightness by up to 20,000 lumens, making it suitable for larger screens and environments with heavy ambient light. This feature also prevents the complete loss of an image, which can occur when only one projector is being used.
